Soccer Laduma rates the individual performances of the Orlando Pirates players, following their 4-3 win over Al Ahly.
Orlando Pirates:
Felipe Ovono: 6
Made a few good stops, most notably in the second half to keep out Evouna's free-kick. While, his decision-making could be questioned for the first goal.
Thabo Matlaba: 7
Was hardly troubled defensively down the right side of the defence, but he was a threat going forward and he is also registered his name on the score-sheet with a well taken goal.
Happy Jele: 6
Struggled to deal with the likes of Antwi and Evouna for most of the game and gave away needless fouls around the final third.
Rooi Mahamutsa: 6
Much like Mahamutsa did not have the best of nights against the Al Ahly attack, but he did pop up with important blocks on a couple occasions.
Ayanda Gcaba: 6
Deployed at left-back and did not have the best of the times and was caught out on a few occasions, while he failed to offer anything in the attack.
Lehlogonolo Masalesa: 6
Despite Pirates conceding three, Masalesa can be proud of his display, he put in a few good tackles and managed to use the ball wisely in the middle of the park.
Thandani Ntshumayelo: 6
Ntshumayelo battled in the midfield, lost possession of the ball on a couple occasions but overall he did put in a solid showing alongside Masalesa.
Mpho Makola: 6
Not the liveliest performances from the Buccaneers winger, who was left isolated on the right flank and didn't offer much going forward.
Sifiso Myeni: 6
Similar to Makola, hardly offered anything in the attack and was substituted 10 minutes into the second half.
Lehlohonolo Majoro: 6
It proved to be a frustrating night for Majoro, who spent most of the game closing down the Al Ahly players, before he was replaced by Erasmus in the 55th minute.
Thamsanqa Gabuza: 7
Gabuza spent the first half chasing shadows and he continued to work hard in the second stanza, but he popped up with one of Pirates' four goals on the night.
Substitutes:
Kermit Erasmus: 7
Replaced Majoro in the 55th minute and his impact was immediate, as he scored a stunning goal to get Pirates back in the game.
Thabo Rakhale: 7
Brought on a minute after Erasmus, but it was his cross that help set up Erasmus' goal and he popped up with the winning goal in stoppage time.
Issa Sarr: 6
Replaced Ntshumayelo for the final 20 minutes and certainly held his own, as Pirates secured the win.
