The two sides will battle it out in the semifinals of the CAF Confederation Cup over two legs in the next month as they both look to try and claim a spot in the 2015 final.
As things stand the two teams find themselves with a win each and two draws from their previous four encounters, however Ahly's win was the most important as they won 2-0 in the 2013 CAF Champions League final in Cairo.
Previous Meetings:
Al Ahly 0-3 Pirates – 04/08/13
(Ntshumayelo, Jali, Myeni)
Pirates 0-0 Al Ahly – 22/09/13
Pirates 1-1 Al Ahly – 02/11/13
(Matlaba; Aboutreika)
Al Ahly 2-0 Pirates – 10/11/13

Pirates lead 4-3 on overall goals scored in their four meetings, however the Egyptians will be eager to match their exploits of bitter rivals, Zamalek, who recently beat the Buccaneers 4-1.
Ahly take on Petrojet in the Egyptian Cup this evening, but that will be their last official game before facing Pirates in the CCC. As things stand they have lost just twice in their last 24 games, while Eric Tinkler's side have lost five of their last nine matches.
