Erasmus played a pivotal role for Pirates in the second-leg of the semi-final with Al Ahly, scoring with his first touch to give his side the advantage on aggregate. Meanwhile, after the game the 25-year-old could be seen in the centre of a huddle geeing up his teammates.
Speaking on the team's arrival back in Johannesburg yesterday, the attacker said that they took positives from the defeat to Zamalek, and are now confident that they are not the underdogs for the final against Etoile du Sahel.
Erasmus said, "We took a lot of positives from the Zamalek game, and we knew that losing 4-1 didn't mean we were a bad team, we just didn't pitch on the day. I think that coming into the Al Ahly game we came with the right mentality and the right attitude. We were hungry. We showed up and we showed character, fighting for one another.
"Going to the final I wouldn't say we were the underdogs, we have a fair chance if we show the right character… I cannot tell the future, you know, but we'll give a good effort to winning it. We'll give our best."
