Kaizer Chiefs Were Knocked Out Of The CAF Confederation Cup

Kaizer Chiefs lost the chance to lift yet another trophy last night as they were dumped out of the CAF Confederation Cup by a rampant ZESCO United.

The Amakhosi went into the clash with the Zambian giants with a ray of hope following Khama Billiat's away goal in Ndola, however they got off to the worst possible start as Anthony Akumu got an early goal to put them up against the wall with a 4-1 aggregate scoreline.

It went from bad to worse as the game went on, with Jesse Were scoring in the second half before Khama Billiat scored a great consolation goal to see that the tie ended 5-2, with Ernst Middendorp's side slumping out of the CCC before the group stages.

Chiefs haven't won a single major trophy since lifting the Absa Premiership back in May 2015, and the CCC could have been the chance for them to lift that hoodoo and get back to winning ways. Now, however, they have just the Nedbank Cup and league to play for this season - or face another trophyless campaign.

The lack that it was Were, a player once linked with the Glamour Boys, who put the final nail in Chiefs' coffin will not be lost on fans of the Amakhosi, and as their wait for a trophy goes on (until at least the end of the season) they will be eager to see the club delve into the transfer market before the window slams shut in just over a weeks' time.

Do you think Chiefs can win a trophy this season?
