Orlando Pirates have been drawn to face the Egyptian giants in the semi-finals of the competition after they finished second in Group B, while their opponents finished top of Group A.
The Buccaneers lost the final of the CAF Champions League to Al Ahly back in 2013 and the disappointment of the defeat will still be fresh in the minds of some players.
Tinkler thinks that facing a team of Al Ahly's calibre will motivate his troops and has indicated that the players were looking forward to this encounter even before the tournament began.
"It is immense motivation. When we entered this competition, my players told me personally that they would like to meet Al Ahly. Now it is their opportunity to do just that," he told Soccer Laduma.
