Tinkler's charges ran out 1-0 winners over Egyptian giants Al Ahly in the first-leg of their CAF Confederation Cup semi-final on Saturday.
The Buccaneers will now have to travel to Egypt for the second-leg of their tie, knowing that a win or a draw will send them through to the final of the continental competition.
"I came here to Orlando Pirates to win trophies. This is the first one we stand a good chance of achieving now," Tinkler told Soccer Laduma.
"We are one step away from reaching the final so we are going to give it our best shot. I know I will always give it my best shot.
"It would be fantastic to win because it is a trophy the club has never won. We would like to put it in the trophy cabinet, but it will not be easy," he added.
