CAF Confederation Cup
Full Time: Bidvest Wits 3-0 Royal Leopards
Date: 14 February 2014
Venue: Bidvest Stadium
A brace from Sthembiso Ngcobo helped Bidvest Wits to a 3-0 win over Royal Leopards in a CAF Confederations Cup preliminary round, first leg match at Bidvest Stadium on Saturday.
Wits dominated proceedings from the onset, but struggled to fashion decent scoring chances early on due to some poor decision making in the final third.
Ngcobo had the first chance of the game around the quarter hour mark when he met an inch perfect cross from the right, but he headed just wide of the target.
The Students finally made their sustained pressure pay off five minutes before the break courtesy of a well-placed strike from Ben Motshwari, 1-0.
The second half continued in the same fashion and eventually Wits doubled their lead around the hour mark when a swift passing movement from the home team concluded with Ngcobo heading home a cross from Tebogo Moerane, 2-0.
Ngcobo grabbed his second of the game and his side's third after a clinical finish from just inside the box, 3-0.
Wits continued to dominate matters, but could not add to the scoreline.
The second leg will take place on 28 February 2015 in Swaziland at the Somhlolo National Stadium.
