Copa Del Rey
Venue: Vicente Calderon Luis Enrique ended his FC Barcelona reign on a high, as the Calatan giants were crowned Copa Del Rey winners after defeating Alaves 3-1 in the final. Barca were dealt a blow after nine minutes when Javier Mascherano was stretchered off after a nasty collision with Llorente. He was replaced by Andre Gomes. Alaves carved out the game's first real chance when Ibai Gomez's low strike from the edge of the box crashed against the upright. Barca took the lead four minutes later when Lionel Messi exchanged passes with Neymar, before curling the ball home from the edge of the box, 1-0. Alaves hit back moments later when defender Theo Hernandez curled home a superb free-kick that left Jasper Cillessen with no chance. However, Barca restored their lead in the 44th minute as Messi played in Gomes, who in turn teed up Neymar for the simple tap-in. There was enough time for Enrique's charges to grab a third goal when Messi skipped past a couple players, before playing Paco Alcacer, who fired into the bottom corner, 1-3. Barca continued upon resumption of the second half, as they continued to push for more goals although Pacheco did well to deny Alcacer in the opening 10 minutes. Alaves nearly pulled a goal back in the 69th minute, but Cillessen produced a good low stop to deny Ruben Sobrino from six-yards out. With Barca comfortably leading, Enrique withdrew Ivan Rakitic and introduced Aleix Vidal for the final 10 minutes of the second half. Nonetheless, Barca managed to see out the closing stages with relative ease to claim the Spanish Cup in Enrique's final game in charge.
