French Ligue 1
Result: PSG 4-1 Reims
Date: 20 February 2016
Venue: Parc des Princes
PSG were a class above their opponents Reims when they thrashed them 4-1 in an exciting French Ligue 1 clash on Saturday night.
The hosts enjoyed a typically bright start to the match, but it was the visitors who had the first real chance of the game as Bifouma used his pace to get ahead before smashing his shot wide of the mark.
PSG then continued to dominate the early exchanges, as Van Der Wiel latched onto a delightful Ibrahimovic throughball before calmly slotting the ball past Carrasso to make it 1-0 after twelve minutes of play.
The home side then seemed to relax a bit after scoring the opener, but Angel di Maria's cross should have been met by a better connection than the one Edinson Cavani managed to get with his 25th minute effort.
Ten minutes later, the Uruguayan was made to rue his missed chance as some terrible defending from PSG led to Prince Oniangué's equalizer with the easiest of headers, 1-1. The hosts then tried to add some urgency to their play but their opponents seemed to be more settled now and were proving a bit difficult to break down.
It took none other than Zlatan Ibrahimovic to give them the lead once more, as the Swede slotted the ball into the far corner to make it 2-1. Two minutes later, right on the stroke of half-time, Cavani rocked up to add his name o the score-sheet as well, taking the score to 3-1.
The second stanza continued where the first ended, with PSG looking lively and threatening on attack. Matuidi was at the end of a neatly played move in the 59th minute, before Ibrahimovic scored sublime effort ten minutes later to increase the Parisians' lead to 4-1.
The home side then seemed to settle for the 4-1 lead and really started enjoying their time on the ball as Reims tried to create a few chances to get back into the game, with their attempts being unsuccessful as the match finally ended 4-1.
