Timo Werner ended his drought in front of goal after finding the back of the net in Chelsea's 2-0 win over Newcastle United on Monday night.
There was a surprise start in the Blues goal for Kepa Arrizabalaga, while big-money signings Hakim Ziyech and Ben Chilwell were only named on the bench.
Nineteen minutes into the first half, Blues coach Tuchel was forced into a change as Tammy Abraham picked up an ankle injury and was replaced by Olivier Giroud.
Giroud made his presence felt almost immediately as the Frenchman unleashed Marcos Alonso down the left before picking out Werner who was unable to profit from close range.
The 2018 World Cup winner would go on to break the deadlock on 31 minutes as Karl Darlow could only parry Timo Werner's strike into the path of the Frenchman for the simple finish.
Werner, however, would finally end his wait for a goal eight minutes later with a close-range finish at the far post after the Newcastle defence failed to deal with Mason Mount's corner.
The Magpies came out the break with an attacking mindset as Jonjo Shelvey went close with an effort from distance in the opening 10 minutes.
While the Blues took a subdued approach in the second half, the chances continued to fall for the visitors. Joe Wilock saw his header saved by Kepa while Jamaal Lascelles headed over the crossbar on 75 minutes.
Miguel Amiron had a big chance to pull a goal back in the 82nd minute after getting on the end of Andy Carrol's knock-on, but the striker volleyed with only Kepa to beat.
Despite the late push from the visitors, Tuchel's men held out for three points and a clean sheet, which sees the side reclaim fourth spot.
