Official: Tau's Al Ahly Complete 'R40M' Transfer

Percy Tau's Al Ahly have confirmed the signing of a new forward from Europe in a deal worth a reported €2 million (R40 million).

The Egyptian giants announced their first signing of the January transfer window on Thursday, confirming the acquisition of Palestinian striker Wessam Abou Ali from IK Sirius.

According to Ahram Online, the 25-year-old has penned a four-and-a-half-year contract with Red Devils, ending a six-month stint with the Danish outfit, where he played alongside South African winger Tashreeq Matthews.

According to Egypt Independent, Ali bid a heartfelt farewell to his former clubs, stating: "I have many wonderful memories in mind. When I came here, I thought I could stay forever. Everyone welcomed me with open arms, and I got used to the people quickly.

"Everyone here, including coaches and players, as well as the medical and training staff, took good care of me. I have a special relationship with the fans. Sirius was not just a club for me. It is like my family and a place that I will never forget.

"Now I will leave. I am happy for the next step, but I will miss the Sirius Club very much."

Reports in Egypt suggest that the reigining CAF Champions League holders have been in search for a clinical centre-forward for a few months, as their marquee signing at the beginning of the season Anthony Modeste has failed to deliver - with the Frenchman scoring just two goals in 12 outings.

Although a Palestine citizen, Ali was born in Aalborg in Denmark, and has represented the European country at various youth levels.

Egyptian publication KingFut reports that Al Ahly are also Reds are also closing in on the signing of Egypt international Omar Kamal from Future FC.
