According to Sports News Africa, Lions of Teranga manager Aliou Cisse, along with his coaching staff, has gone the past half-year without being paid by the country's football association.
The 47-year-old took over coaching responsibilities for his home country in 2015, and since then, the west African nation have reached unprecedented heights.
Cisse led Senegal to FIFA World Cup qualification in 2018 and 2022, but his most impressive achievement was capturing his nation's first-ever African title at the beginning of last year in Cameroon.
Senegal triumphed over Egypt on penalties in the final to become Africa Cup of Nations winners for the first time, but his aspirations of winning a second successive title may be undermined, with the same report claiming that Cisse is owed a total of €180 000 (R3.7 million) in salary.
With the French-raised tactician believed to earn €30 000 (R616 000) a month in his role, but it is further claimed that the former midfielder will be given all the money owed to him before the upcoming AFCON takes place.
There is the possibility that Cisse could walk away from the competition in Ivory Coast with even more money, given that the west African powerhouse have been categorised as one of the tournament favourites, potentially making more bonuses up for grabs.
