SuperSport United defender, Grant Kekana, recently caught up with SLTV as he shared his thoughts concerning the suspension of the PSL due to the Coronavirus outbreak, the pros, and cons of being a professional footballer, and some of his interests outside the beautiful game.

Growing up in Bela-Bela, the centre-back recalls taking to football at an early age and playing on the streets.

The 27-year-old also spoke about some of the major challenges he’s had to face as a professional, both on and off the field and how important it is to ensure that you stay disciplined mentally and physically.

Despite not having shared a dressing with his teammates for over two months, Kekana mentioned the team’s joker and the first item he bought once he received his first professional paycheck valued at R1,500.

The Matsatsantsa man talked about the hole the club will need to fill, following Dean Furman’s exit during this lockdown period.

During this interview, the self-professed poet also said…

  • "Any wrong move might end up in the media…"
  • "It’s just about being professional…"
  • "Sometimes I want to bash my fist into the window…"
  • "I bought Air Max (sneakers) when I got paid…"
