A Tanzanian midfielder has received interest from both Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates, the Siya crew has been informed from insiders privy to information.

After just a few games in the PSL since joining Chippa United at the beginning of the new season, Baraka Majogoro is already on the wanted list of the two Soweto giants. Soccer Laduma had previously noted how Chiefs may be monitoring the player, but Siya sources have now indicated that Pirates could also be tracking him.

Sources from both clubs have revealed how Pirates have shown interest in the 26-year-old defensive midfielder.

"It was Chiefs who had shown interest first in the player but now Pirates are also monitoring him. He is an exceptional midfielder. Most people compare him to Andile Jali in his prime. Maybe that's why he is attracting so much attention from big teams," said the Siya source.

"At the moment we can't really say where he will be going because both clubs have just shown interest and nothing official has happened yet. But it's a good sign to have teams monitoring him," the source told Soccer Laduma.

A second Siya source added that Chippa United would want to keep the player but his current one-year contract is expiring in June 2024.

"He signed a one-year contract with a one-year extension option but with the interest from other teams, Chippa themselves would want to renew his contract as well. But it will depend on the offers from the teams interested," said the second source.

"I don't think Chippa would want to lose him as a free agent so let's wait and see what Chippa will do," the source concluded.

The Siya crew contacted Pirates for comment but no response was received while this story was prepared.
