Ntokozo Sikhakhane Predicts Kaizer Chiefs' Nedbank Cup Destiny

Ntokozo Sikhakhane Predicts Kaizer Chiefs' Nedbank Cup Destiny

The Magic v Kaizer Chiefs

Former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder, Ntokozo Sikhakhane, has predicted that the Amakhosi are drawn against National First Division opponents for their next round of the Nedbank Cup.

With the draw for the quarter-finals of the Nedbank Cup to be held this evening, Sikhakhane thinks that Chiefs will face either Cape Umoya United or TS Galaxy in their next match, after having already played against ABC Motsepe League sides Tornado FC and The Magic FC in the previous rounds of the prestigious competition.

The other teams left in the competition are PSL outfits, Bidvest Wits, Cape Town City, Chippa United, Golden Arrows and Bloemfontein Celtic.

According to Sikhakhane, Chiefs should avoid Wits or City - the two teams that have been considered as favourites to win the cup.

"For me, this cup is for Chiefs. It's up to them. I have a feeling that they will get a lower league team again. I have a feeling that they will get an NFD team and I see them reaching the final," said Sikhakhane.

However, the former central midfielder is aware that Amakhosi have previously struggled in this competition against lower league teams.

"I understand that when a professional team plays against an amateur team, the professional team tends to not perform to their best. Also, players from amateur teams want to market themselves and that's what makes them give their all. But I see Chiefs getting a team from the NFD and reaching the semi-finals.

"Struggling (against a lower league team) is one thing, but getting the result, in the end, is another thing, and that's what is important. It's a cup game and at the end of the day there must be a winner and that is what counts. Even if they struggle, they will end up getting there. If they (Chiefs) get a team like (Golden) Arrows, they might be given a hard time. It's better to struggle against a smaller team but proceed to the next round of the cup competition. It's all about the results and anything else doesn't matter," added Sikhakhane.
