Queiroz Set To Stay In Iran?
Carlos Queiroz In Talks To Extend Iran Stay
Carlos Queiroz, who is a leading candidate to take over the Bafana Bafana coaching role, looks set to extend his stay with the Iran national team.
Word coming out of Tehran is that the Iran Football Federation have said they and Queiroz are extremely close to reaching an agreement that will keep the Portuguese coach with the team he has just led to the World Cup tournament in Brazil.
“We’ve made our offers but disagreement is in the details. We will negotiate to reach agreement,” IFF head Ali Kaffashian was quoted as saying in the Tehran Times.
With this latest news, it seems that if SAFA can't convince him to turn down the Iran offer, they may have turn their attention to other coaches that have been linked to the post, namely Giovanni Trappatoni, Stephen Keshi, Ruud Krol and Kaizer Chiefs coach Stuart Baxter, amongst others.
Baxter has recently been linked to the Technical Director position at SAFA, but could still be considered for the head coach role.
However no official word has been said by either Chiefs or SAFA about Baxter, who is currently in camp in Port Elizabeth with Chiefs.
Soccer Laduma will continue to monitor the situation, and whether Iran are able to hold onto the former Bafana, Real Madrid and Portugal coach.
