'Nasty' Incident Apology For Former Orlando Pirates Goalkeeper

Fatau Dauda

A former Orlando Pirates goalkeeper has again made the headlines for all the wrong reasons, following his sending off in a recent match for his team.

Fatau Dauda, who plays for Enyimba International FC of Nigeria, was shown a red card for violent conduct in the first half of his team's match against Akwa United.

The 33-year-old shot-stopper, who was on the books of Pirates between July 2013 and July 2014, was red-carded for his off the ball challenge on striker Ifeanyi Ede.

The former Pirates keeper has since apologised for the incident.

In April last year, reports from Nigeria indicated that the goalkeeper, who also had a stint with Chippa United during his short spell in the PSL, allegedly punched a ball boy and left him unconscious during a match between Enyimba and Katsina United.

The ball boy was allegedly rushed to a hospital, while the goalkeeper had to be escorted by policemen from the pitch after the match, according to reports from Nigeria at the time.

Enyimba later rubbished the reports and defended Dauda from the alleged punching incident. Dauda was recently in Mzansi and played for Enyimba against Bidvest Wits in their 1-1 draw in the CAF Confederation Cup game at Bidvest Stadium last month.
