Gavin Hunt Backs Kaizer Chiefs For Top Eihght Finish

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Gavin Hunt has commented on his side's chance of finishing in the top eight after throwing away a two-goal lead against Bloemfontein Celtic.

It looked like being a good afternoon for Chiefs when Happy Mashiane and Erick Mathoho put the visitors two goals up, but Celtic hit back through Neo Maema and Victor Letsaolo on Saturday afternoon.

Chiefs now sit in ninth spot with five games left to play and Hunt is confident his side finish among the top eight this campaign.

"We got a lot of games. We don't mind that. The desire is there. Sometimes the legs aren't there. We've got to keep going and try to get to the end. We can still do it. I think we can. I got great belief," Hunt told SuperSport after the game.

" You saw the chances we had today away from home. If we play like that. Not many teams come here and dominate like that. They had one moment in the first half and they scored."

On the game, Hunt felt the draw was just another reflection of their season so far but he was proud of his players.

"Well it's the story of our season. It's the old adage - strikers win you games and defenders win you leagues. Not that we try to defend but we concede goals every week. It's been poor. We have to get better. We work on it all the time. Lot of individual stuff.

"But I'm proud of the players. They played well today. We've been playing well this whole season. Even the games we've lost or drawn we've played well, created chances. I mean we created enough chances today to win three games of football. First half could have been 4-0. We had so many opportunities.

"Obviously they're going to come back into the game but we've got to defend better. Basic things. The defending starts from the front of the team and it wasn't there.

"But I mean I'm proud of the players. I can't ask for more. They give me everything they've got."
