The International Federation of Football History Statistics (IFFHS) has awarded this particular prize since 1996, with the first recipient being legendary Italian manager Marcello Lippi.
In more recent times, some of the world's most successful managers in the form of Pep Guardiola and Jose Mourinho have picked up the prize, with the latter being named the winner of the accolade twice in the past decade.
His managerial rival Guardiola has won the award just once in the past 10 years, doing so in 2011 after a brilliant 2010/11 campaign with FC Barcelona, during which they won the LaLiga and the UEFA Champions League titles.
Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone was named the World's Best Club Coach in 2016, while Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane won the award in two consecutive years in his first spell as Los Blancos' boss.
