John Comitis Gives Latest On Possible Signing Of Sundowns Winger

Aubrey Ngoma.

Cape Town City chairman John Comitis has explained why they are at the mercy of Mamelodi Sundowns when it comes to winger, Aubrey Ngoma.

Ngoma joined City on a loan deal until the end of this season and City are interested in having him beyond the current campaign, but the ball is not in their court at the moment.

The 31-year-old's contract with Sundowns expires at the end of June, but Sundowns have an option which they could exercise. City are waiting to hear if Sundowns will take the option.

"(With) Aubrey Ngoma, unfortunately we are at the mercy of Sundowns' decision with Aubrey. They have option for one more year with him, so we need to wait and see what happens with their decision first. At this stage we can't comment on that," Comitis told media during a Cape Town City press conference held on Monday afternoon.

Ngoma was injured during the first half of the season, but returned to make his first appearance at the end of February and has since featured in nine matches in all competitions for the Citizens.

Sundowns are yet to make a decision on Ngoma and it's now just a waiting game for City.

City coach Eric Tinkler is keen to work with Ngoma going forward. The two have worked together before in their first stints with City and won the 2016 Telkom Knockout together.

Ngoma is among these Sundowns players getting game-time elsewhere:
