Stellenbosch FC will host their first-ever competitive Cape derby at the Danie Craven Stadium this evening, with bragging rights and a crucial three points on offer.
The Western Cape-outfit stand the chance of going above their rivals Cape Town City today, should they clinch maximum points to move from their current eighth position.

Speaking to the media ahead of the game, Stellies head coach, Steve Barker opened up about the excitement of the Cape derby but more especially how crucial it is to grab all three points on offer.
"Derbies, in general, are always an exciting affair for players and clubs and when you are able to play the match on the home ground which will be a first for us and we are looking forward to what is going to be an exciting and very competitive match.
"We know each other well, we play each other in friendly matches so they are familiar with our players and we are with them and it is always nice to have the bragging rights in the city so it does make it extra special to get a victory over Cape Town City, we did beat them last time, so we know that they will be wanting to rectify that.

"But our players are highly motivated, taking the derby out of it, it is three points on offer.
"As I explained to the players, all games are important, it doesn't matter who you play but in the context of the situation and it being a derby and an opportunity to go above them in the league an opportunity to hopefully continue to build a fortress at Danie Craven."
