Bongani Zungu has managed to pull off his dream Glasgow Rangers move in what turned out to be a deadline day transfer, however, the midfielder's transfer fee remains an issue of discussion.
Zungu was in demand following the relegation of his Amiens side to Ligue 2 last season. The midfielder had options in France and in Spain, but it was Rangers who won the race for his signature.
At one point the move seemed to be in jeopardy, after the clubs could not agree on a fee, despite this, a move materialized for the 28-year-old. The Siya crew initially reported that Amiens demanded a fee of around €4M (±R77M) for Zungu.
Despite the challenges faced, Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard persisted and managed to land Zungu's signature on loan, and the Light Blues have an option to make Zungu's stay a permanent one.
The Daily Record reported that they would have to fork out a reduced fee of €2.9M (±R56M) as agreed by the two teams.
However, Siya sources have indicated that Amiens' evaluation of the marauding midfielder remains at €4M (±R77M).
Rangers have until May to make this decision, which gives Zungu enough time to impress as he did during stints in Portugal and France.
Gerrard was full of praise for his newest acquisition, who has been added to Rangers' UEFA Europa League squad and could make his debut in the Scottish Premiership this weekend when they take on Celtic on Saturday.
