Ligue 1 Report: Nantes v Paris Saint-Germain 31 October 2020

Result: Nantes 0-3 Paris Saint-Germain

Date: 31 October 2020

Venue: Stade de la Beaujoire

Paris Saint-Germain steered three points clear at the top of the French Ligue 1 table after a comfortable 3-0 win over Nantes on Saturday evening.

Moise Kean and Pablo Sarabia formed a front three with Kylian Mbappe in the absence of Neymar and Angel Di Maria for PSG.

The game got off to a lively start and Nantes had a big chance to go ahead in the 16th minute after Kolo Muani beat his marker on the byline before sending in a cut-back that needed just a tap-in but Moses Simon missed the ball from six-yards out.

Ander Herrera nearly gifted the hosts the opener ten minutes before the break after losing possession cheaply inside his own half but Muani's dangerous missed narrowly over the bar.

Mbappe had a glorious chance to give Thomas Tuchel's charges the lead just before the break after Sarabia picked him out with a cross inside the box but he attempted to take a first-time strike and miskicked the ball.

Herrera eventually broke the deadlock for PSG two minutes from the break with a composed finish inside the box thanks to Mbappe's sweeping cross.

The Parisians were awarded a penalty in the 65th minute after Jean-Charles Castelletto shoved Mbappe inside the box, which allowed the Frenchman to double the visitors' lead with with a confident finish into the bottom corner from 12-yards.

Nantes were also awarded a penalty of their own in the last 20 minutes after a challenge from behind by Abdou Diallo on Marcus Coco, but Kader Bamba's spot-kick was saved by shot-stopper Keylor Navas.

The hosts had a late charge towards PSG, putting them under pressure but Sarabia put the game to bed for Tuchel's men in the last two minutes with the third goal after intercepting a back pass on the edge of the box to lob a shot over goalkeeper Alban Lafont, as the Parisians went three points clear at the top of the log.
