The Mother City-based club have been looking ahead to the new season, making plans to bolster their squad in the upcoming July/August transfer window.

Alongside the likes of Lorenzo Gordinho, Bevan Fransman and Brighton Mhlongo who has been linked with moves to City, the Siya crew has been informed that there have been talks about Pirates midfielder, Mpho Makola.

According to sources, the Citizens have been keeping a close eye on the 31-year-old's situation at the club. Makola has been a regular in the Bucs' starting line-up up until late in January this year.

The midfielder, who scored just two goals all season, has been struggling for game-time ever since returning from an injury.

Should his situation remain unchanged throughout the season and with Makola being at a critical stage of his career, Bucs could potentially look to send Makola out on loan in order to get the needed game-time.

Pirates recently exercised the added two-year option on Makola's deal, which will see him at the club until, at least, the end of the 2019/20 season.

However, with the player currently struggling to make the starting line-up, City have been tracking the player, with sources indicating that the club could be looking to offer the player regular game-time.

Now, it remains to be seen whether City will look to approach Pirates for Makola, or if they will just continue to monitor his situation.
