Stuart Baxter's men still have two crucial matches remaining against Senegal on the 10th and 14th   November which are home and away respectively. Victory in both matches is of paramount importance as this will see their points tally reach a maximum of 10 points.

Burkina Faso currently lay second in Group D on six points with one game left to play against Cape Verde.

The Islanders can only reach a maximum of nine points if they win their remaining game against Burkina Faso, after they suffered a 2-0 defeat to Senegal on Saturday evening.

The Senegalese have it all in their hands, as they know if they win their two remaining matches, they will secure a place at next year's World Cup.

Senegal currently sit top of the group with eight points and could potentially reach a maximum of 14 points at the end of the campaign. Bafana can reach a maximum of 10 points, while Burkina Faso and Cape Verde can only reach nine points with their remaining fixture in the group.

Bafana have their fate in their hands heading into the final two matches against Senegal, as they can qualify for the World Cup if they defeat the Lions of Teranga in both remaining ties.
