More Details On Pitso's New Downs Contract?

With the Siya crew reporting yesterday that Mamelodi Sundowns and coach Pitso Mosimane have finally come to an agreement regarding his new contract, there's been an indication of how long 'Jingles' has committed himself to Chloorkop.

Mosimane was appointed Downs coach in December 2012 and that means he has enjoyed an unprecedented tenure at a club that chopped and changed its technical team over the years – there have been 12 different men in charge of the Tshwane outfit prior to the former Bafana Bafana mentor taking over.

It had been widely reported that the two were in talks over a new deal to extend Mosimane's stay beyond June 30 and the Siya crew has now been reliably informed that after winning nine trophies in seven years, Downs aren't letting arguably their most successful coach simply walk out of their Chloorkop base.

An announcement on these successful negotiations is expected to be made over the next few weeks, and it is believed Mosimane has committed to a long-term contract which could see him remain in charge for another three years at least.

That would take his overall tenure to a decade and validate club president Patrice Motsepe's remarks a last year that he wanted 'Jingles' to be their Sir Alex Ferguson.

"I have said that I want Pitso to be the Alex Ferguson of Mamelodi Sundowns and that means I want to keep him for as long as he wants to be here. But at the same time‚ I also want to see him grow because, can you imagine for example, if he were to coach one of the European clubs or even our national team," Motsepe said after the experienced mentor clinched what was a record ninth league title for Downs and a fourth since he arrived at the club.

"Pitso is black‚ he is African‚ he is South African and he is one of us‚ you have to feel a sense of unique pride," added Motsepe.
