Celtic Break Silence On Sale Rumours

Celtic Break Silence On Sale Rumours

Bloemfontein Celtic have released a statement on rumours that the Free State club is up for sale.

Just yesterday, the Siya crew revealed that Bloemfontein Celtic have several offers for the clubs' Absa Premiership status.

It is an open secret that owner Max Tshabalala has been keen to sell Phunya Sele Sele for some time now, but potential buyers have often walked out of the deal at the last minute – their vocal supporters have also been against the sale.

The latest interested party is owner and chairman of TS Galaxy, Tim Sukazi. His interest in the purchase of the club was confirmed by Mandla Tshabalala, who is the cousin and lawyer of the Celtic boss.

Celtic have since released a statement refuting reports that the club is up for sale and have revealed that they are in a process of acquiring a new sponsor, which has been halted by talks that the club could be sold.

"There are currently rumours that our club has been sold and that is causing panic to our staff, players and sponsors. All the news and articles about the club being for sale are fake news.

"There are no offers to sell the club and the club is not sold," said Max Tshabalala.

"We urge people not to believe anything they see or hear from the media concerning the sale of the club. The club is in the process of securing a sponsorship deal and all that has been said slows down our progress of securing the deal. We accept that there had been enquiries concerning the sale of the club from different stakeholders but nothing concrete was achieved," the said club in the statement.

In what is a turn of events, Sukazi disclosed to the Siya crew on Tuesday, that he had indeed made an offer to purchase the club and that the deadline for proof of funds is May 31,therefore it comes as a somewhat of a shock that Tshabalala and Celtic have issued this statement just a day later.

The Siya crew will be keeping a keen eye on matters at the Mangaung club.
