Cape Town City Have Confirmed Deal For Abbubaker Mobara

Cape Town City announced their first new signing ahead of the 2019/20 campaign, with the player putting pen to paper on a long-term deal at the club.

The Citizens snapped up the signature of Abbubaker Mobara from Orlando Pirates, edging the likes of Mamelodi Sundowns and SuperSport United who have previously showed interest in the player.

Mobara joins City on a free, as his contract comes to an end this month and according to Siya sources, the 25-year-old has signed a 2+2 year deal, which will see him remain at the club until, at least the end of the 2022/23 season.

As things stand, City will have the final say in the player's long-term future, with the club able to exercise the added two-year option at any time.

Contrary to his previous contract, Mobara signed a straight three-year deal with the Bucs, which has since come to an end.

The versatile player made 49 appearances for Pirates in all competitions, since joining the club in July 2016.

Mobara will now look to invigorate his career under Head Coach Benni McCarthy, with indications that the player has been added to bolster both their midfield and defence.

Now, it remains to be seen who else City will look to add to their books in the coming weeks as they prepare to once again challenge for domestic honours.
