Maritzburg United chairman Farook Kadodia has told the Siya crew that goalkeeper Richard Ofori's transfer to Orlando Pirates is "complete" and that the Team of Choice are also getting a player from the Buccaneers in return.
The Siya crew reported at the weekend that the Ghanaian shot stopper had said his goodbyes to his Maritzburg teammates as he prepared for his move to Pirates after being on their wishlist for the last two seasons.
But the Team of Choice will also benefit from the transaction.
Tebogo Tlolane, who joined Pirates from Chippa United at the beginning of last season but was sent on loan to Maritzburg in January this year, will return to the Midlands.
Kadodia had confirmed to the media last week that the left back would be staying at the club for another season, only for him to feature in Pirates' 1-0 win over Cape Town City in the MTN8 quarterfinals over the weekend.
Asked for clarity a day later, coach Eric Tinkler suggested he, too, believed Tlolane would be on their books for the 2020/21 season.
"It was an in-house arrangement with Pirates – so I can't say it was a surprise. Yes, we confirmed last week that he would be coming to us. But there was a request from Pirates that they needed a player on the left hand side, and we agreed," Kadodia told the Siya crew.
"So there are no issues, the player is on his way to Maritzburg now. It also basically means Ofori is a complete transfer."
