The Real Madrid superstar has been ordered to testify in court at 11:00 on Monday 31 July, as revealed by Spanish paper El Confidencial.

Ronaldo has been accused of tax fraud worth €14.8 million (R216 million) between 2011 and 2014.

He reportedly knowingly used a business structure, created in 2010, to hide income from image rights in Spain.

Ronaldo and his representatives have since denied any wrongdoing but – similar to Lionel Messi – the player will now have to testify in court.

It has been claimed that his tax case is one of the main reasons why the Los Blancos superstar wants to find a new club during the transfer window.

Meanwhile, Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho, who has the same agent as Ronaldo, is reportedly the Spanish tax authorities' next target.

The former Real coach apparently committed tax fraud worth €3.3 million (R48 million) between 2011 and 2012, according to AS.

A case has been opened by Spain's tax authorities and presented to a court in Madrid, which means the Portuguese tactician could also be called to court if a case is officially brought against him.
