Zambian Midfielder Noah Chivuta Breaks Silence On Relationship With Ernst Middendorp

Zambian Midfielder Noah Chivuta Breaks Silence On Relationship With Ernst Middendorp

Experienced Zambian midfielder Noah Chivuta has opened up about his relationship with current Kaizer Chiefs coach Ernst Middendorp, during their time at Maritzburg United.

After signing with Maritzburg in 2009 under former Bafana Bafana coach Gordon Igesund, Chivuta surprisingly had his stay at the Pietermaritzburg outfit cut short, following the coaching changes that took place later in the season.

After Igesund was replaced by Middendorp in November that year, Chivuta was released from the Team of Choice at the end of the season after only a year of his contract with the club, despite being one of the regulars in the team at the time.

Chivuta, who now plies his trade in Thailand at Lamphun Warrior, has opened up about playing under the German tactician.

"He is a good person. I've got nothing to hide. He came here in Thailand and spent some time, before he went to Chiefs. So, we had a chat and whatever and that's why I'm saying he is a good person, and he's a very good coach," Chivuta told the Siya crew.

"But when it comes to nurture players and, you know he is a person who's like… if he believes in a player, he will motivate that player in and out. If he has his own 11 and says, 'This is my starting 11', he will never change that pattern. Even if you are training and you are doing a passing game, the starting 11 will be on their own. The rest (of the players) will be on the other side. He divides the team. Imagine it's a Monday and you have seen that okay these are the players who are going to start, what will motivate you? How are you going to be fighting? But he has made up his mind," said Chivuta.
