Premier League Report: Crystal Palace v Liverpool 19 December 2020

Result: Crystal Palace 0-7 Liverpool

Date: 19 December 2020

Venue: Selhurst Park

Premier League leaders Liverpool showed Crystal Palace no mercy after registering a 7-0 a win at Selhurst Park on Saturday afternoon.

Mohamed Salah was surprisingly dropped to the bench as Takumi Minamino was re-called to the attack while Naby Keita came in for Curtis Jones.

Minamino's inclusion paid off from the onset as the Japanese attacker got his first league goal with a neat finish into the bottom corner after just three minutes.

Palace, who were without the suspended Christian Benteke, had a couple sights at goal at the midway stage of the first half but the likes of Jeffery Schlupp and Jordan Ayew were let down by their decision-making.

The next goal went the way of the visitors though as Roberto Firmino delightfully played in Sadio Mane, who took once touch before rifling the ball into the bottom corner.

The Reds managed to bag a third goal just before the break as swift counter attack ended with Andrew Robertson picking out Firmino for the neat finish from six yards out.

The rout continued in the second half as Jordan Henderson got his name on the scoresheet seven minutes after the break after collecting a cross from Trent Alexander-Arnold before firing home from the edge of the box.

Salah replaced Mane shortly after the goal, and the Egyptian made his known after setting up Firmino for the fifth goal in the 68th minute as the Reds began to show no mercy.

The Egyptian did not want to be left out though as he rounded off the scoring with nine minutes left on the clock with header into the top corner after some good work by Matip.

Salah was not done there after adding his second and Liverpool's seventh goal three minutes later with a superb finish into the top corner that left the Palace shot-stopper with no chance.
