10. Burkina Faso (56th overall)

With the qualifying process for the 2022 FIFA World Cup for African countries coming to an end this week, here are the 10 highest-ranked African nations in FIFA's latest world rankings.

Despite beating Nigeria over two legs to qualify for the tournament in Qatar this year, the Black Stars of Ghana are still not among the highest-ranked African international teams in the world. 

The Ghanaians find themselves a single place behind 10th-placed Burkina Faso in terms of nations from the African continent, although they are four spots lower in the overall world rankings. 

Salah To Retire From Egypt?

South Africa are only the 13th-best-ranked nation from Africa, with four of the top five places being taken up by two sides that failed to book a spot at the upcoming World Cup in Qatar, Nigeria and Egypt.
