PSL Coach Talks Chiefs Achilles Heel

PSL Coach Talks Chiefs Achilles Heel

A Premier Soccer League coach who's recently come up against log leaders Kaizer Chiefs has explained what he felt was their vulnerable point.

Clinton Larsen was not able to get the victory his Polokwane City outfit needed to claw their way out of the Absa Premiership relegation zone, but having been in control for about an hour of their 3-2 defeat qualifies him to give some insight.

"We've had such a long time to prepare for this game," Larsen told journalists.

"We analysed them well and our game plan was spot on, hence we started with (Lesiba) Nku and (Vusimuzi) Mngomezulu – their speed off the mark, the preparedness to break the defensive line was clear for everybody to see."

The coach felt that is where Chiefs can be exposed…

"And after analysing Chiefs we knew that it could be their Achilles heel. That's exactly where we posed them a lot of problems," explained Larsen, whose side were leading 2-0 only for the wheels to come off as they conceded three quick goals and saw Daniel Cardoso also miss a penalty that could have given Amakhosi an emphatic victory near the end.

"The players really executed our game plan very well, just the most disappointing part is that we did not come out at half time two, three or even four goals to the good. That is where we actually lost the game."

Chiefs face Bloemfontein Celtic at Tuks Stadium at 6pm and can go nine points clear at the top of the table if they win.
