When the 30-year-old netted a brace in the Bavarian giants' 6-0 thumping of Wolfsburg early in March, he made history by becoming the foreigner with the most strikes ever in the Bundesliga's history with 196 goals, surpassing Werder Bremen's Claudio Pizarro in the process.

Having plied his trade for both Bayern and Borussia Dortmund, the Poland striker was recently asked his opinion on the toughest defenders he has come up against in his career so far, and he named four.

"In the Champions League, Sergio Ramos. He's a great centre-back, not just defensive, even with the ball," Lewandowski told German publication Kicker.

"In the Bundesliga, Jerome Boateng and Mats Hummels. They were always a challenge and not easy to play against. Also, the former Eintracht Frankfurt player Carlos Zambrano, a very aggressive centre-back."

Lewandowski also named a Juventus legend and an Arsenal great as the forwards he most admired when growing up.

"Thierry Henry, I liked to study his style of play. I also liked Alessandro Del Piero," he added.
