Liverpool defender Virgil Van Dijk has been voted Player of the Year for the 2018/2019 season by his footballing peers.

Van Dijk beat out competition from Raheem Sterling, Sadio Mane, Bernardo Silva, Sergio Aguero and Eden Hazard.
The 27-year-old becomes the eighth different Liverpool player to win the award after Terry McDermott, Kenny Dalglish, Ian Rush, John Barnes, Steven Gerrard, Luis Suarez and last year's winner Mohamed Salah.
Sterling may have missed out on the big award, but he did walk away with the Young Player of the Year award for 2018/2019.
