Galaxy were the winners of the previous edition of the competition last season, after they beat Kaizer Chiefs in the final to write their name in the history books of Mzansi football as the only club from the second tier league to have won it.

"Today Mamelodi Sundowns and Bloemfontein Celtic will battle to be successors in title to TS Galaxy's Nedbank Cup crown, TS Galaxy being the only club to hold the title for longest period in one season. All the best to both title contenders...till we meet at the tunnel of course," said Sukazi in his message on his official Twitter account.

Galaxy are expected to play in the topflight in the new season after the club bought the status of Highlands Park, pending the approval and confirmation of the league.
