PSL Club Rubbishes Talk Of Possible Sale

PSL Club Rubbishes Talk Of Possible Sale

A Gauteng-based PSL club has moved quickly to dismiss talk that the club's top-flight status is for sale.

There has been talk in the football fraternity that Highlands Park could be the latest PSL club in the market for a new buyer.

Speculation emerged after the club was confirmed to be considering pay cuts as a result of financial constraints.

The Siya crew previously reported that if Highlands were considering a reduction in salaries, it would not be uniform throughout the entire club, and would instead be on a tiered system, where players who feature regularly in the starting XI are unlikely to be affected, while fringe players, the administration and technical team could be severely affected.

This was confirmed after it was widely reported in local media that departed striker Tendai Ndoro, who hardly featured for the club, suffered a wage cut of around R20 000 last month.

The latest is that the Tembisa outfit is up for sale, although the club's co-owner Larry Brookstone dismissed the rumours.

"That's absolute rubbish. The club is not for sale," Brookstone told the Siya crew.

Last month, it was reported that another Gauteng club, Bidvest Wits were for sale, however, their Chief Operations Officer Jonathan Schloss poured cold water on the rumours, making it clear that there is no truth to the speculation.

"Bidvest Wits is not for sale," Schloss said.
