Jurgen Klopp Reacts To Manchester City Winning League, Reveals Pep Guardiola Text

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has given his thoughts on Manchester City winning this season's Premier League title, and revealed that he sent Pep Guardiola a direct text message after his latest triumph.

The Reds were unable to retain the league trophy in the 2020/21 campaign, with Klopp's side suffering a host of injuries that would end up hurting their chances of another dominant season.

The title has now gone to Guardiola's City, his third in four seasons, and Klopp revealed in his latest press conference that he has already texted the Spaniard to congratulate him for winning the Premier League.

"It's a great achievement, congratulations to them. I texted Pep last night and already texted Ilkay (Gundogan) obviously," he said, according to the Metro.

"Really, well done. Very difficult year for the whole world, for football teams as well. What they have achieved already is exceptional.

"Having won the title in the past now, it's now five in 10 years. It's always, I think, like this, when you bring together financial resources and football knowledge then you have a good chance to create something special, and that's obviously the case.

"City has an incredible squad and the best manager in the world. That makes it a good recipe, I would say. It's always a joy to play against them because it's a massive challenge.

"You can beat them, but you have to be at your absolute top to beat them. We could do that from time to time, but this year obviously not."
