UEFA Champions League Wrap 18 September 2019

Group C

Shakhtar Donetsk 0-3 Manchester City

It was business as usual for Manchester City who cruised to a 3-0 win over Shakhtar Donetsk at the Oblasny SportKomplex Metalist.

Riyad Mahrez opened the scoring on 24 minutes, before Ilkay Gündogan and Gabriel Jesus got the second and third goals respectively.

Dinamo Zagreb 4-0 Atalanta

Atalanta had a Champions League debut to forget after falling to a 4-0 defeat to Dinamo Zagreb on Wednesday night.

The Croatian side raced into a three-goal lead in the first half thanks to two goals from Mislav Orsic and Marin Leovac.

Orsic completed his hat-trick in the second as Zagreb moved to the top of Group C due to a better goal difference than Man City.

Group B

Bayern Munich 3-0 Red Star Belgrade

Bayern Munich began their Champions League campaign with a comfortable 3-0 win over Red Star Belgrade at the Allianz Arena.

Kingsley Coman got the scoring underway in the 34th minute, before Robert Lewandowski and Thomas Muller sealed the win late in the second half.

Following Tottenham Hotspur's 2-2 draw with Olympiakos, the win sees Bayern sit stop of Group B after matchday one.

Group D

Bayer Leverkusen 1-2 Lokomotiv Moscow

Lokomotiv Moscow upset the apple cart after defeating Bayer Leverkusen 2-1 at the BayArena.

Grzegorz Krychowiak put the visitors ahead after 16 minutes, but an own goal from Benedikt Höwedes levelled matters in 25 minutes.

Dmitriy Barinov managed to net the winning goal seven minutes before the halftime break to move top of Group D.
