Experienced coach Cavin Johnson who has been confirmed as Pitso Mosimane's assistant coach at Al Ahly was set to jet out to Egypt today, however, there has been a slight change of plans regarding his flight.
The Siya crew broke the news that former Platinum Stars, SuperSport United and AmaZulu coach Johnson, was Mosimane's preferred assistant, after failing to convince Rulani Mokwena to switch allegiances.
The 61-year-old was set to jet out of Mzansi on Tuesday morning, however sources in the know have informed the crew that the flight was cancelled due to COVID-19 regulations, something that left the coach highly irritated.
"The coach was supposed to fly out today (Tuesday) he had already completed his tests and everything, but the problem was with COVID-19 regulations on the flight itself. The coach will probably be on the next flight out to Cairo," the source said.
Johnson, who spent months on the sidelines without a job following his suspension and eventual dismissal by Black Leopards, is likely to miss Al Ahly's match against ENPPI tomorrow evening, although he could take his place on the bench when the Red Devils take on rivals, Pyramids FC on Sunday.
Pitso Mosimane's tenure as Ahly coach got off to a winning start on Sunday evening as his charges ran out 1-0 winners over Al Mokawloon.
