According to Marca, Arthur Melo did not show up for training and COVID-19 tests following a short holiday Barca had allowed their players to have after the 2019/20 LaLiga campaign ended.
The Brazilian's €72 million (R1.4 billion) transfer to Juventus has already been confirmed, but he initially did not want to leave the Camp Nou.
Arthur is said to feel he was pushed out of the club, and was not used by coach Quique Setien in any of the team's past six games.
He reportedly does not want to wear the Barcelona shirt again and has asked the board to terminate what is left of his contract – it is currently set to expire at the end of the 2019/20 UEFA Champions League campaign.
Barca, though, are said to be counting on the 23-year-old for the second leg of their round of 16 tie against Napoli because they are short on midfielders, with Sergio Busquets and Arturo Vidal suspended for the match.
