Claudio Garcia, a former footballer who played alongside Maradona for Argentina, has insisted the Albiceleste legend's death was avoidable, comparing the final days before his passing to a kidnapping.
"My opinion is the same as always. He was kidnapped," Garcia said on the Los Mammones show on America TV, as cited by Marca.
"I had up to six telephone (calls) with Maradona. I had an audio of him that said, 'Let's go and eat some meat when all this is over, Turquito.'
"This is very personal and I don't give a damn what they tell me, his death was 100% avoidable.
"There was no defibrillator, there was no ambulance, he was not attended to, he didn't take the main pill for his heart.
"He died alone in a playroom with an ecological bathroom downstairs.

"They wouldn't let him talk to his (former) teammates, that's why I say he was kidnapped.
