Manuel Neuer Responds To Marc-Andre Ter Stegen's Latest Comments

Manuel Neuer & Marc-Andre ter Stegen

After FC Barcelona star Marc-Andre ter Stegen admitted his frustration at not playing for Germany in this past international break, Manuel Neuer has reacted to his remarks.

Barca Star Frustrated With Bench Role During FIFA Break

Despite reaching his prime years as a goalkeeper and being Barca's undisputed No. 1, ter Stegen is still very much overlooked when it comes to the German national team.

The 27-year-old has appeared just 22 times for his country since his debut in 2012, with Neuer being Joachim Low's clear favourite for the position.

Following this latest international break, ter Stegen again found himself on the bench as second-fiddle to the Bayern Munich veteran, and was not scared to admit his frustrations in a recent interview.

Neuer has now addressed his international colleague's remarks, saying he does not think ter Stegen's comments were necessary.

"I am a team player and I always think in the good of the team," he said, according to Sport.

"I don't know if something like this is good for the group, above all in our position.

"It's not the first time that ter Stegen's said this. I'm happy with how I am playing and my responsibilities. I can't say anything else.

"There are a lot of really good goalkeepers. The discussion is not fair with respect to Bernd Leno and Kevin Trapp.

"I understand those not playing aren't satisfied, but the important thing is the team's success and we have to support each other."

Ronaldo Extends Impressive Record Over Messi

Neuer has appeared 90 times for the German national team since his debut in 2009, playing in three Fifa World Cups and two Uefa European Championships.
