On Friday evening, the Cape Town Stadium hosted the encounter between newcomers Cape Town City FC and Kaizer Chiefs. Steve Komphela's chargers were outshone by the Cape side as they netted a sixth minute goal through  Matthew Sim. The Amakhosi pilled on the pressure in the latter stages of the game but were denied by City's shot-stopper, Shu-Aib Walters.

The Chilli Boys continued to display their beautiful brand of football at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium on Saturday afternoon as they faced off against Cavin Johnson's Platinum Stars. The visitors dominated from the start and took the lead in the eighth minute through Rhulani Manzini. As the second half started, Dikwena showed some promise but Chippa's Menzi Masuku slammed the ball home from close range to give the away side a 2-0 victory.

Gavin Hunt's Bidvest Wits continued their winning streak as they hosted Orlando Pirates at the Bidvest Stadium. The home side dominated from the onset as they forced Pirates goalkeeper Felipe Ovono into a few good saves. After 14 minutes, Pirates were awarded a penalty which was slotted in by captain, Oupa Manyisa. Wits levelled matters in the 37th minute from a Buhle Mkhwanazi header. The second half continued with Wits' dominance and in the 75th minute, they took the lead with a close range shot by Thulani Hlatshwayo.

The season's first Tshwane derby was a thrill. From the beginning, SuperSport had a physical approach as they tried to unsettle Mamelodi Sundowns at Loftus Versfeld. However, in the 18th minute, Wayne Arendse placed the ball into the roof of the net to give the Chloorkop-based team the lead. Kingston Nkhatha was brought on for the injured Bradley Grobler and made an immediate impact as he levelled matters in the 45th minute. In the second half, a shot by Hlompho Kekana deflected off Sibusiso Vilakazi and past Ronwen Williams to put Downs into the lead. Khama Billiat then secured a semi-final spot for Sundowns with a clinical finish in the 80th minute.
