Tshepo "Skhwama" Matete is a hot name in South African football at the moment. He has been in fine form for Baroka FC this season. On top of this, he plays in a way many South Africans drool over – with kasi flavour.
Many have even started drawing slightly unfair comparisons between Skhwama and the late Scara Ngobese. The supporters had some hilarious reactions to these comparisons and the thought of him playing for a big team.
"With Shabba and Lebese on the left wing, I don't see stingy Bobby breaking the bank for the guy. He's chiefs' type of player." – Lemon_Walekhosi
"If you have soccer brains, you'll know he's not even a first division material. That why even Baroka never played him in the last three important games of their season and played him under three minutes in the Nedbank games. He won't win you games, instead kills team morale going forward. He's an entertainer, not a good footballer. Scara was an entertainer but had a good eye for a pass, and could also take on players and score crucial goals." – MGG06
"I don't see the hype made about this guy, he can dance with a ball, so what? Does he create goalscoring opportunities? Or does he bang in goals? If not, please people, come up with things that can make SA soccer productive." – Mqunyazi
There are those, however, who see Skhwama's value.
"If we can buy Ndulula, really, how much more good do we stand to gain in signing this player, who is by far better than Ndulula... Bobby, please bring him in." – SeaGate4
"He is far better than him, I had the privilege of watching them play against each other during past festive seasons, when Scara was still alive, Scara used to play for ama ten ten and Skhwama for Juventus in Ground C Vosloorus. I can tell you Skhwama is something else." – morokoane
Others think Skhwama and Scara are not comparable at all.
"No big team will ever buy that headless chicken, that Italian bag is good for street soccer, not the game Scara played. People must learn to respect, you can not mention Scara and Matete in the same sentence, that's disrespecting Ngobese." – Zax5_Bucs
