The deal is done! The t's have been crossed and the i's have been dotted – Sibusiso Vilakazi will be pulling the yellow jersey over his shoulders next season as he lines up alongside the likes of Leonardo Castro and Khama Billiat for Mamelodi Sundowns' title defence. However, this deal came in the form of a swap, and the question is: Who got the better deal?
On the face of things, it seems the Yellow Nation was the big winner here as Sibusiso Vilakazi is one of the most highly rated players in the league. However, the deal saw Cuthbert Malajila and Mogakolodi Ngele join Wits too. While many supporters are celebrating the signing of Vilakazi, others have warned that Clever Boys coach Gavin Hunt may have perhaps outsmarted Pitso Mosimane on this one.
"I think Wits is the winner in this deal. We all know how lethal 'Mala' is and how impressive Ngele can be, but 'Vila' is yet to live up to expectations, especially after last season's injury. I would like to congratulate Downs, though, and I hope Pitso will know how to liberate the best out of this player." – Maxer13
"Gavin Hunt is a smart coach. Vilakazi is a quality player but he is injury-prone." – PlainMohau M
It must, however, be added that the signing of Vilakazi is probably the biggest of this transfer window and all congratulations must go to Pitso, Mr. Motsepe and the Yellow Nation for aquiring the star player's services.
