There are only two coaches in this season’s PSL yet to taste defeat, the two being Mpumalanga Black Aces’ head coach, Muhsin Ertugral, and Free State Stars’ Ernst Middendorp.
Aces and Stars will both be in action this weekend, in the quarterfinals of this year’s Telkom Knockout, against Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns respectively.
The question will be raised, that Chiefs and Platinum Stars are unbeaten in the Absa Premiership, however Amakhosi were defeated in the MTN8 while Dikwena were knocked out of the TKO.
Middendorp has been a revelation at Ea Lla Koto, since arriving. The team had suffered three losses in the league prior to the German taking over at the helm, but are now unbeaten in five fixtures, in all competitions.
This weekend they will be up against Pitso Mosimane’s Brazilians, who are experiencing a rich vein of form, and although the Chloorkop-based side will go into the tie as odds-on favourites, Stars will be looking to capitalise on their home ground advantage.
Chiefs on the other hand will be going all-out to end Aces’ unbeaten run at the Mbombela Stadium. The Soweto giants have lost only one game all season, in the MTN8 final against Ajax Cape Town, and will be adamant on reaching their second final of the campaign.
However, with Ertugral at the helm, the team has proven that they can mix it up with the best, and as a mater tactician, Chiefs will not have it all their own way?
Share your thoughts with me. Will this weekend see the underdogs progress, or will the two powerhouses, Chiefs and Sundowns, secure a semi-final berth?
Enjoy the game people,
