This week we are trying something different in Supporters Club, we are selecting the Get Published writer of the week and asking him three important questions about South African football to get their opinion. This week we chat to Matome_Kay. The question is: Why do clubs fail and could it happen to Bloem Celtic?
I believe the main reason is that such football clubs are not following basic principles of running a successful business. Like, hiring a manager who knows what he's doing and supporting him all the way. A visionary leader, with great organizational structure to run a corporate house or business entity.
It's also a matter of understanding the cost-revenues in this business. They lack proper vision and planning. For a football club to be successful as an entity, the directors need to re-invest any income generated by the club in the team. Some directors use the income generated by the club to settle their own external debts not related to football. You should have a successful management of club financial affairs.
In any situation, avoid quarreling with players and technical team in terms of salaries, always have a backup plan for when funds are low. As for Bloemfontein Celtic, I believe they can escape if they think like there's no box at all. They went into obscurity at one stage, and I can say they have experience in that. Though, I can't rule that possibility out. It's just a matter of how the management see and handle this situation that they find themselves in at the moment.
