There has been a long and resounding echo in the halls of South African soccer for some time now, and a lot of people would love to see Gavin Hunt as the head coach of Bafana Bafana. He says he's not ready – will he ever be?
In this week's newspaper edition of Soccer Laduma, in response to a Supporters Club question, Hunt said that he feels he is too young to accept the Bafana Bafana coaching job, and the supporters have responded to this.
"And this is exactly why Gavin Hunt is the best guy for the job. How big of Gavin, one of South Africa's best and most decorated coaches, to say he is not ready to coach the national team when coaches with lesser qualifications and even fewer accolades have accepted and begged for the job. I have the utmost respect for Gavin." – Ant_55
"He led Seven Stars to a 74-game unbeaten run. Famous players scouted: Benni, Ndlela, Niang ,Shikhwidu, Pelembe. Trophy Success: Swallows one trophy, SuperSport three league trophies, Wits one trophy. Too bad that you're doubting yourself, there's never a better time." – Linguini
"What a good coach Hunt is, also wise not to rush for Bafana job which can expose him and make us think he was just a fluke, because Mashaba was highly favoured once and look where he is now." – Bucs_lomqino
"When will you be ready, Gavin? South Africa has many talents that are not used. We've got so many players, which we can choose from. Not only from PSL, NFD as well needs to be recognised. Hunt is the man for the job, he is very good at how to spot a talent. What are you waiting for, Gavin? If the opportunity comes, grab it with both hands." – Zam24
